Dare I mention Christmas yet?

Dare I Mention Christmas Yet?

I know that it’s barely November but the shops are already gearing up for the holiday season and I’m jumping on the bandwagon too! I’m gradually adding a few small and affordable pieces to my online shop. These 6 inch square pincushions might be just the thing for a friend who enjoys textiles or maybe even as a treat for yourself! I’ve really enjoyed making them using all my favourite fabrics and techniques and I hope you’ll like them too. I’ve got quite a few more of these waiting to be photographed and I’ll be adding them to the ‘Shop’ as fast as I can so please check back from time to time to see if anything appeals and feel free to drop me an email if you need more info or have questions.

Bye for now,
Linda

Talisman 2

Talisman 2

25.5 inches x 28 inches
65 cm x 71 cm

This is the second in a series of Talisman quilts I made a few years ago. It was exhibited at Festival of Quilts at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham and has been in storage ever since – seems a pity to be hidden away! I wanted to evoke a  sense of a primitive protective spirit. The fabrics are discharged linen and cotton with silk details. The text was created using painted fusible webbing. The quilt features lots of both hand and machine stitching. The three little beaded and embellished pockets are devised to hold precious secrets!

Butterfly

Butterfly

26.5 inches x 18 inches
67.5 cm x 46 cm

This is a digital print of one of my sketchbook pages, superimposed with an enhanced photograph of a swallowtail butterfly. It was printed using fibre reactive dyes and the wings of the butterfly have been embellished with fabric painting. The piece is closely quilted with free motion machine quilting and there is beaded detail to one of the bound corners. It has a hidden sleeve ready for hanging on a rod or batten.
