180cm x 180cm
This quilt was inspired by several of my favourite Paul Klee paintings. I pieced together many squares of hand dyed, rusted and digitally printed fabrics and worked onto the resulting surface to add appliqué, fabric painting, stencilled and stamped text. It was completed with closely spaced free motion quilting and a little hand stitched embroidery. The quilt can be viewed from any of its four sides as the design elements are directed to the edges of the piece, just like in Klee’s ‘Ad Marginum’.
