Conveying ideas of colour with words can be difficult! To make things easier we've categorised them into ten colour schemes to best describe the colour combinations we have designed. We find these themes are much more useful than describing a fabric as purpley-blue-grey, etc.!
While our colour themes cover a vast range of colour combinations you still may not be able to find exactly what you are looking for. We can dye fabric or threads specifically for you! Supply Laura with good colour references, these can be fabric swatches, paper samples, etc. and she'll do her best to dye just what you need, (email for details).
The inherent nature of hand dyeing and the reason we all love it so much is the randomness and unpredictability of the result. We aim to describe the colours as accurately as possible but each fabric within a theme will not necessarily contain all of the colours covered by that description. If the proportion of the colours is crucial, for example you may be buying a fabric to complete an existing project, please specify on your order form or Special Instructions box at the 'Checkout'. For example: Anemone - mostly purple, or Citrus - mostly lemon, etc.
A soft dusty mix of browns, ochres, gentle terracotta, stone and slate with the occasional soft green
Go green - from deep forest to slime and lime
An acidic blend of lemons, limes and oranges
Rich autumnal colours of russet, copper, olive greens, brown and ochre.
Just like the flowers - purples, fresh greens and reds
Add some punch with fiery shades of chilli, saffron, tumeric and of course a little hot pink for good measure!
Threatening skies of slate grey, charcoal, purples and a flash of blue
All the pinks from hot to not so hot!
From shallow tempting turquoise to the darker sea green depths
Just like your jeans - dyed with chemical indigo through stonewash pale to deep navy.
