We are pleased to offer City & Guilds Creative Sketchbooks as an Online Course. Designed for those who would welcome the opportunity to develop skills in art and design techniques, the course will provide a thorough introduction to a range of art materials and their effective use and leads to a certificate from the internationally recognised
awarding body, City & Guilds of London.
Many people have sound knowledge of their own particular craft area but lack the confidence to produce original artwork to support their ideas or convey design intentions to college tutors, potential clients, or simply for personal development. Whatever your creative subject, this structured course will have something to offer.

What's involved with 7823-08 Level 2 Creative Sketchbooks?
The course has a core unit of design which looks at colour, line, texture, shape and form. Working from a variety of inspirational sources, students will record
these basic elements of design using many art techniques. They will be introduced to a wide range of art materials and by following the activities included in each Module will discover how to use them effectively. These exercises will form the basis of a resource of visual and technicalinformation that will be called upon to produce
2 exciting assessment pieces. The first will be a sketchbook full of innovation
and creativity and the second will be a freestanding zig-zag format design
presentation book. The syllabus is covered in 10 modules, designed to build
upon skills and knowledge gained as candidates progress through the set activities
and so new modules are made available to candidates as the previous one is
completed. The course is designed to appeal to absolute beginners in art and
design and to those with more experience who would like the challenge of working creatively within a structured framework.
Inevitably, within any group, there will be variation in abilities and skills. Most activities have a 'Now Take it Further' option for those who wish to develop an idea and stretch their imagination. Individuals will receive an evaluation of their ideas, and suggestions on how to proceed at every stage. To achieve certification from City & Guilds of London, candidates must complete all syllabus requirements satisfactorily. In order to maintain the high standard required, work is assessed online by our tutors, and verified by an External Verifier working on behalf of City
& Guilds. What support is available?
You may email us for additional help with any of the set tasks if you have difficulties or simply want to chat about the possibilities. We aim to reply to you as quickly as possible, but bear in mind, there may occasionally be short delays as our tutors do teach away from home several times a year. Laura is always happy to give technical advice about sending images etc. To keep you informed we post a newsletter on the website at the beginning of every month and we regularly update our 'Student Gallery' pages showing how productive and creative you are all being!
How to Enrol
Enrolment is easy. Before we enrol any students for our Online Courses we always do a simple file transfer test. This is just to ensure that all the lines of communication are open and working and gives us the opportunity to iron out any technical glitches before we begin!
If you are interested in taking the course, email us HERE to ask for the test image. We send you our test image and request that you respond with a similar file. We like to stress at all times that this is not an IT course, so if you lack confidence when using the computer just let us know and we can talk you through the process step by step.
When we have received your successful test image we will forward you a copy of the enrolment form.
