Students Requirements
'Handmade Books'
One day workshop
Students will start from scratch and make at least three different books using a variety of techniques.
Students will need to bring:
Cereal box weight card at least 10" x 4" (25cm x 12cm).
Mount board weight card at least 11" x 13" (30cm x 35cm).
Cartridge paper at least 2 A1 sheets 32" x 24" (84cm x 60cm).
Paper suitable for decorating covers (hand made paper, painted papers, giftwrap) at least 2 pieces 12" x 14" (30cm x 35cm).
Assorted selection of other papers which may include: tissue, brown paper, tracing paper, painted papers and handmade papers, photocopies, acetate sheets.
Ruler.
PVA glue/Pritt stick.
Cutting mat and knife.
4 bulldog clips or pegs.
Needle with a large eye.
Assorted strong embroidery threads, (linen is best) at least 3 metres/yards.
A small piece of felt (6" x 6" is plenty).
Lightweight cotton fabric 10" x 7" (25cm x 20cm).
Batting 10" x 7" (25cm x 20cm).
Stiletto or bradawl.
Eraser or lump of Blu-Tack or plasticine.
Flat ribbon about 1 yard/metre.
Pencil.
Students may also like to bring small embroidery/patchwork samples which could be incorporated into pages or covers.
