Student Requirements

'Embellished Quilting'
One day workshop

During this workshop students will create a small sample combining hand and machine techniques which can later be incorporated into a larger piece of work or finished as a bag/cushion or small wall hanging.

Students will need to bring:

Sewing machine capable of free machine quilting (drop feed and a darning foot). Please familiarise yourself with your machine before the day of the workshop and if in any doubt - bring the manual!
A fat quarter of batting (approx. 20"x 20"), 100% cotton or 80/20 polyester/cotton batting is best, or you can use a piece of felt. Try to select a batting which is fairly low loft.
A fat quarter of light weight cotton fabric (approx. 20" x 20") in a plain/space dyed colour.
Selection of lightweight cotton fabrics in coordinating colours. If you can't decide then bring a range and we'll select from them on the day.
Coordinating machine threads, some suitable for tacking.
Coordinating hand threads, (hand dyed threads, crochet cottons, etc. are fine).
Basic sewing kit to include: needles with a large enough eye to carry your chosen hand threads and small sharp scissors.
A fat quarter of backing fabric (approx. 20" x 20").
Seed beads, (very small beads either glass or plastic available in craft shops).
Bondaweb at least 12" x 12" (30cm x 30cm).
Pencil.
Ruler.
Fabric scissors or rotary cutter, ruler and mat.
