At the conclusion of our Online 7822 Patchwork and Quilting Course, students who have satisfied all the syllabus requirements are awarded a certificate by the awarding body, City & Guilds of London. We would like to offer our congratulations too!

Elisabeth Fuchs

For her final assessment Elisabeth made this striking cot quilt. The pineapple design worked in a rainbow of colours is a vibrant piece, perfect for a new baby.
The quilt was machine pieced and then densely free machine quilted. In the borders a pineapple motif was chosen. Pineapples are often seen as a symbol of welcome so it seemed so appropriate for this piece made for a new member of the family.
Before beginning the piece, Elisabeth carefully planned the colour placement for each block.

Left: Elisabeth's first assessment piece was this beautiful cushion. With a hand quilted cushion made from hand dyed fabrics, the piece then is wrapped with two decorative panels and tied at the sides.

Right: The back of the cushion. The panels which are simple tied on, give such flexibility to this piece - they could be changed at any time to alter the design or colour scheme.

Below: Details of the cushion together with some of the design work. The assessment item was inspired by the gorgeous colours of orchids.
