At the conclusion of our Online 7822 Patchwork and Quilting Course, students who have satisfied all the syllabus requirements are awarded a certificate by the awarding body, City & Guilds of London. We would like to offer our congratulations too!

Marie Andrews

Marie's final assessment was this exciting wallhanging featuring a design for pieced kites and border.

The contrast of scale in the design focussed attention on the dynamic kites and their lovely fluid tails.
Marie considered suitable proportion and size for her specific site.
Working design ideas on paper allows the opportunity to consider quilting patterns too.
Marie's first assessment was this beautifully worked cushion using Cathedral Window technique.
The cushion is piped using the same fabric as is featured in the 'windows'.
Hexagons are considered for their shape and a range of graded sizes used in a sample of shadow applique.
The portfolio of samples covers a wide range of techniques including traditional patchwork as well as stencilling with fabric pastels.
These pieced hexagons below were inspired by a landscape and are quite tiny!
Designs created with pastels make wonderful fabrics for quilting.
Printing and frottage have produced lovely samples of shape and texture on paper and fabric.
These samples show how Marie has recorded interesting textures from her inspiration sources.
Marie has experimented with many different ways of applying colour to both paper and cloth.
A selection of portfolio samples show how shapes can be identified from the landscape and from plants.
Manipulated paper shapes provide inspiration for folded patchwork samples.
