Lynn Anderson

Lynn's final assessment was inspired by the wonderful architecture of Belfast Cathedral. She particularly focused on the carved stonework and window shapes.
Above: The final assessment book was a free standing zigzag book with additional fold out sections. The colour palette was informed by the stonework and stained glass windows of the Cathedral. Right: Lynn experimented with manipulating images on her computer to alter the colour and contrast.

Left: One of the photographs taken by Lynn of the Cathedral interior. Lynn later modified the image and worked a selection of pages, below.

Below left: Printing a stencilling to create repeat pattern.
Below right: Drawing with glue and collage.

Lynn's first assessment piece was inspired by a walk on the North Irish coast. Lynn liked the idea of documenting a journey. It began down a path overgrown with bracken that then opened up onto the rocks and then the beach.
Above: A map of the area overlaid a photo to make one of the pages. Right: A selection of the photos that Lynn took to help document her journey.
Above: Some of Lynn's studies of the fern leaves. Techniques include rubbings and printing.

Lynn really explored the potential of this Old Man's Beard seedhead. She has used digital imaging, printing onto acetate monoprinting and collage amongst other techniques.

Above and left: Other work from Lynn's portfolio. Left a collage of painted papers and above, an example of a cut page to emphasize the shape of a source image.

Right: Glue drawing over a photocopied image.

Left: This kingfisher provided the colour palette for a range of painted papers, some of which are shown below.

A study of tulips led to some very exciting work using transparent layers.

Left: More of the work involving tulips.

Above: A landscape drawing including the use of tissue for texture.

Left and above: Lynn chose to work on black paper for her pastel experiments which created dramatic results.
