Lindsey Moss
Lindsey's final assessment piece was this double bed quilt featuring the patchwork block design Drunkard's Path. The decision to keep it simple and use only two fabrics helped to ensure that the quilt would be striking but also easy to live with.

Here's a detail of the hand quilting worked in a coloured thread on the plain fabric for added interest.

Right: Before beginning any work on the final quilt, Lindsey worked out the whole design on paper first.
Above: The storyboard set the mood for Lindsey's first assessment project, a cushion designed for a modern townhouse setting.

Right: The front of the completed cushion used cathedral window with fabric pleating. the white trim around the edge of the cushion really adds spark.
Above: Examples of some of Lindsey's printing work on paper and fabric.
Left: a sample of American block patchwork. Right: A computer generated image showing how the design could look in a different colour way and repeat arrangement.
Above: A sample of bonded applique with quilting.
Above left: Texture is introduced to fabric using a slashing technique through several layers of fabric.
Above: This lovely image of flowers was the inspiration for the colour scheme in the hexagon piecing sample, Right.
Above right: A landscape created using fabric pastels with hand quilting. Above right: Needle turned applique squares that make great use of a printed fabric.
Above: Applique using a range of stitches to finish the edges of the shapes. The sample also uses prairie points inserted into the binding as a final touch.
right: The quilting on this shadow applique sample is particularly effective on the polished fabric.
