Gillian Barresi
The inspiration for this assessment is a moth, the Tiger Moth, which is very brightly coloured and patterned. Sheet music and Celtic art also have a part to play in the development of the design which is for a wallhanging in fabric. A very enigmatic and mysterious image.

Gillian's inspiration for this piece on the left is an architectural drawing by Gaudi of his cathedral The Sagrada Familia plus a worn tractor tyre. The design is for a box top. She has created a very dramatic design with a wonderful sense of depth.

Gillian used the inspiration found in a photo she took while visiting Ludlow in Shropshire. The historical hotel, the Feathers, is covered in complex wood carvings and it was from one of these that she drew the designs used in the creation of the cover for her hand made book.

Left and following images: a selection from Gillian's portfolio of samples.
