At the conclusion of our Online 7823-08 Creative Sketchbooks Course, students who have satisfied all the syllabus requirements are awarded a certificate by the awarding body, City & Guilds of London. We would like to offer our congratulations too!

Cissy van den Bosch
Cissy's final assessment piece was this zigzag book inspired by the work of architect, Friedrich Hundertwasser. The free standing format of the book structure provided a perfect vehicle to display design development of ideas taken from an architectural theme. Like the buildings themselves, the pages can be viewed in 360 degrees. Cissy hinged the pages ingeniously with pillars and finials reminiscent of Hundertwasser's original features.
Details of pages showing typical decorative window features, mosaics and brightly coloured building structures.
More pages with interesting apertures and contoured edges reflecting typical Hundertwasser rooflines.
Cissy's first assessment sketchbook was inspired by a favourite place, an island off the North coast of The Netherlands. The sketchbook illustrates the experiences and emotions of many visits there.
One page features a map of the island integrated to the sketchbook with a wash of gentle colour.
Cissy has used a range of collage and painting techniques to represent both the broad landscape and the more intimate detail of the place.

Early design exercises looked at linear marks in a variety of guises.

Simple linear patterns arranged in boxes like these can suggest perspective in a landscape or represent contours of mountains, ploughed furrows in fields or distant horizons.
