Ceci Sullivan
Ceci's beautiful final assessment quilt is an original design developed from her own art work which takes trees as it's inspiration.
Pieced with dense machine quilting, the rich colour palette creates a quilt that really glows.
Left and right: Details showing the quilt which uses free rotary cutting and machine piecing. The clever use of machine quilting in the background areas leaves the unquilted tree trunks and branches looking raised from the surface.
Left: Ceci's initial storyboard of ideas that set the mood for this quilt.
Right: The final design was resolved using a computer paint program to evaluate the colour placement and gave a good indication of how the completed quilt would look.
Left: Ceci's first assessment piece was this wall hanging designed to capture the essence of the beachfront view that would be seen through nearby windows. The swirling shapes reflect the motion of the wind and water, while the colours are inspired again by the ocean together with the silvery surface of driftwood.
